Universum Box Promotion, the new version, has cancelled its show on October 17 in Duesseldorf mainly due to the coronavirus pandemic. There was also some fights being called off before that such as Danish heavyweight Kem Ljungquist, who pulled out of the fight against Senad Gashi due to an injured hand.
Still active heavyweight and trainer Sherman Williams is now back in Copenhagen to train IBF female featherweight champion Sarah Mafoud for a not disclosed fight in the near future.
Danish paper BT is quoting promoter Mogens Palle who says a deal for a fight against Amanda Serrano on December 11 in Los Angeles is close but it’s not yet confirmed.
As BoxingScene.com previously reported, former IBO welterweight champion Sebastian Formella (22-1) will fight Conor Benn (16-0) on November 21 in London on the undercard to Alexander Povetkin vs Dillian White II.
Formella suffered his only loss to Shawn Porter and that was in his last fight.
Unbeaten Belgian cruiser Kamel Kouaouch (10-0) takes on dangerous Hungarian Tamas Lodi (20-13-2) November 7 at the Spiroudoume Arena in Charleroi with 12rounds headed by Alain Vanackere promoting.
Even if Lodi loses more than he wins on the road he’s still scored a few upsets along the way. At stake is the vacant WBC Mediterranean title.
Heavyweight Herve Hubeaux (32-3) and welterweight Hovhannes Martiosyan (9-0) are featured on the undercard.
The show is on in Fuerstenwalde (Germany) on October 17 with a maximum of 600 spectators allowed. Fighting on the undercard is WBA lightweight contender (ranked # 15) Zapir Rasulov (34-1) taking on Jir Jaros (5-21) in a scheduled six-rounder made at super lightweight.
In the main event super welter Mike Jaede (14-0) is in against better than his record Hungarian Oszkar Fiko (33-28-1) with the vacant GBC title at stake.
