Gemma Atkinson, 35, posted a message of support on her Instagram stories after her partner Gorka Marquez, 30, made a mistake during his performance with Strictly Come Dancing contestant Maisie Smith, 19, on Saturday night. The Hollyoaks star insisted that the most important thing is “confidence” as the duo landed in the bottom two on the Sunday results show.
It was the second time the pair had survived being in the bottom two, which this week saw Caroline Quentin and Johannes Radebe being voted out of the contest.
Gemma wrote on her Instagram story: “To the younger generation watching Strictly, never ever dumb down your talent or ability or enthusiasm just to please a load of jealous people on the internet.
“The most important thing a girl can wear is her confidence.
“Phew! Chin up and on to next week,” she added.

Gorka and Maisie found themselves at risk of elimination from the show, after a mishap on Saturday when the dancer almost dropped the EastEnders starlet on her head.
The pair performed a sizzling salsa, however, Gorka almost dropped his partner after she backflipped during the dance.
After the routine, the judges scolded the dancer, after the moment nearly ended in disaster.
All three pointed out the error and refused to let him off the hook.

Craig Revel Horwood said to Maisie on Saturday: “It was a bit unfortunate about the bad landing but I’m blaming your partner.”
The judge brought it up once more during the Sunday show as he said that Gorka threw Maisie in the air “like a torpedo”.
Although the pair scored 27/30 for their routine, it did not stop them falling into the bottom two for the second week in a row.
After a difficult set back last week that saw Maisie in tears, the actress vowed to come back this week stronger than ever.

A source told The Sun: “Poor Maisie has been so upset – she’s been crying all night and has really taken it to heart.
“She’s young and living away from home for the first time so it’s hard on her.”
It appears as though Gemma is firmly behind the pair as she continues to offer her unwavering encouragement on social media.
She told The Sun: “I feel bad now for him that he’s [Gorka] having to be away. He’s missing Mia so badly.”
The Hollyoaks star added that being apart from her dancer beau has also kept the “honeymoon period alive” as they look forward to reuniting.
“We miss each other so much but when we’re not together that strengthens us.
“It’s helped keep the [honeymoon period] alive because it keeps us on our toes,”
Strictly Come Dancing returns Saturday on BBC One at 7.15.
